Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress from Manama, Bahrain and was born into a multi-ethnic household. Jacqueline's father Elroy Fernandez hails from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. She has two elder brothers and two younger brothers. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. The family of her parents moved there in the 1980s due to the civil war within Sri Lanka. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney following her graduation from Bahrain. The love of different cultures and languages inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school where she improved her French as well as Arabic while learning Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone started her career as a TV host. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on Sri Lankan Business. Padukone (the mother of former badminton players Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. In her teens she competed in badminton at national level championships but left her career in the sport to become a fashion model. Padukone has Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her native language. Padukone, a village within the Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi located in Karnataka State of India is where her lineage comes from. Prakash Padukone's father was an international badminton champion who is now retired. Her mom is a traveling agent.
